How Low Can Your Logo? My Submission
November 27, 2010 Leave a comment
I just thought you’d like to hear about an awesome competition I have recently submitted to called HowLowCanYourLogo; it’s a contest to try to find the worst logo possible for a company! The contest is entirely fictional and the final logo will not represent the (also) fictional company, it’s a contest hosted by Fuzzco a creative studio, clearly with a good sense of humour! The contest is also sponsored by PrintMag, Under Consideration, AIGA, The Half and Half and Copper Dog Press.
Sadly as I am doing my research for doing this post I have just found out that I am not eligible to win as I do not live in the U.S, which sucks! However this was still a fun project for a day and I urge you all to have a go. You don’t have to be a talented design artist or have any Photoshop skill, just a good idea and ‘bad’ execution!
I have seen many themes in the submission gallery and they range from Nazi inspired propaganda to copyright offences, but for my submission I started by thinking about what is typically ‘bad’ in my books. As a computer orientated person I focused on that; the ideas I was coming up with though were too niche and ones that only other designers would probably get. So I thought of the most common computer related issue, then it came to me: The Blue Screen of Death.
This was a relatively easy theme also, all I needed to do was copy an image of the blue screen then colour out the writing and replace my own. I think it looks pretty good and I am happy with how it came out, though I realised it was just lacking that extra touch, so i added a run-prompt error and again replaced the text (see the top of this post).
As I say though, I cannot win the contest but I’d appreciate your votes all the same, so just click the image and I will be very thankful. My final entry can be seen below. The contest entry requirements included a 400×300 size limit which is why the resolution is so low, but hopefully you get the idea! Click the image to vote for my entry!
